ODEON OPEN CALL - COMING SOON

ODEON Open Call: Funding opportunities for SMEs developing data-driven energy services

The ODEON project is launching its Open Call to support innovative solutions that accelerate the digital energy transition in Europe. Entities, particularly SMEs and startups are invited to develop data- and intelligence-driven energy services and applications using the ODEON ecosystem.

Selected projects will receive up to €60,000 in funding, along with access to the ODEON technological framework and a dedicated support and mentoring programme. In total, the call will support up to 20 third-party projects developing innovative services that leverage federated data sharing, artificial intelligence and cloud-edge technologies to enhance the energy system.

The ODEON Open Call opens on 1 April 2026 and closes on 2 July 2026 at 17:00 Brussels time.

ABOUT THE ODEON OPEN CALL

The ODEON Open Call aims to foster the development of innovative digital energy solutions built on top of the ODEON Cloud-Edge Data & Intelligence Service Platform.

Applicants will design, develop and validate new services that use the project’s federated data spaces and AI-based tools to create solutions that complement and expand the ODEON ecosystem.

These services should address the needs of key actors in the energy value chain, including network operators, Local Energy Communities and aggregators; and consumers and prosumers.

By supporting these developments, ODEON contributes to building a more flexible, resilient and data-driven energy system.

The ODEON Open Call seeks innovative services and applications based on data and intelligence technologies that can be developed using the ODEON platform.

The proposed solutions must build on the ODEON Cloud-Edge Data & Intelligence Service Platform, contributing to the development of the project’s ecosystem.

Proposals should focus on the design, development and validation of solutions that:

  • Leverage federated energy data sharing
  • Use AI-based analytics and intelligence services
  • Operate through cloud-edge architectures
  • Support renewable energy integration and system flexibility
  • Improve energy management and grid resilience

The call is open to legal entities, with a particular focus on:

  • Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Startups

Applicants should have the capacity to develop innovative services that make use of energy data, AI technologies and digital infrastructures.

APPLICANTS NEED TO ADDRESS ONLY ONE OF 13 CHALLENGES:

  1. Monitoring, Governance, and Lifecycle Management

  2. Federated Edge-AI Pilot

  3. Development of an Edge-Deployable Bi-Directional Data Connector for Residential Energy Assets

  4. Next-Day Load Baseline Calculation for LFM participation

  5. Near-Real time Secondary Substation Load Forecasting for predicting congestion and overvoltage events based on LV consumer/producer data

  6. Near-Real time Secondary Substation Load Forecasting for predicting congestion and overvoltage events based on SS transformer data

  7. Improving Flexibility Profiling and Baseline for Implicit Demand Response Campaigns

  8. Smart Charging V2G/G2V under grid signals

  9. Forecasting Services for LECs

  10. Improving Prosumer Understanding Through What-If Scenario Analysis

  11. Improving Reliability and Performance Awareness of Residential DERs

  12. Structuring Residential Flexibility for Demand Response and Aggregation

  13. Cross-Dataspace Interoperability & Energy AI Services

SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR SELECTED PROJECTS

Selected applicants will participate in a 10-month support and mentoring programme designed to guide projects from concept to validation.

The programme includes three main stages:

Stage 1 – Individual Mentoring Plan & Project Design
Refinement of the project concept, technical integration planning and development of a tailored mentoring roadmap.

Stage 2 – Energy Service Development
Development and implementation of the proposed service using the ODEON technological framework.

Stage 3 – User Validation and Impact Creation
Testing and validation of the developed solutions with relevant users and stakeholders to demonstrate their potential impact.

HOW TO APPLY

Interested applicants can submit their proposals through the official application platform.

Applications will go through a multi-stage evaluation process including eligibility checks, expert evaluation and a final selection process.

About ODEON

The ODEON project (Federated data and intelligence Orchestration & sharing for the Digital Energy transitiON) is a Horizon Europe initiative funded by the European Commission.

The project aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the energy sector by creating an inclusive ecosystem based on a federated Cloud-Edge Data and Intelligence Service Platform. This framework enables secure data sharing and intelligent services across the energy value chain.

ODEON’s technologies will be validated in five large-scale demonstration sites across Europe, ensuring the solutions developed can support real-world energy systems and contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
