May 2025. The city of Amiens (France) will host a pivotal two-day workshop this June as part of the EU-funded ODEON Project, which is developing cutting-edge digital tools to support Europe’s clean energy transition. Held on June 2 and 5, the second ODEON Living Lab workshop will bring together a wide range of energy stakeholders, from local prosumers to national regulators, to explore how emerging technologies can reshape the future of energy in France and across Europe. The event is co-organized by ODEON project partners, regional energy provider SICAE, and the Prospex Institute, and forms part of the Sustainable Energy Days initiative within the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2025.
The Amiens workshop comes at a key moment for the ODEON project, now 18 months into its four-year timeline. With demonstration sites in France, Ireland, Spain, Greece, and Denmark, ODEON is testing how local data orchestration and digital solutions can unlock new opportunities in energy systems. Feedback gathered in Amiens will help shape ODEON’s final policy recommendations and support the broader goals of energy digitalisation, decentralisation, and decarbonisation across Europe.
Prosumers take the spotlight
The first session, on June 2, will take place at SICAE’s offices near Amiens and focus on energy prosumers, individuals who both produce and consume energy, many of them local farmers and SICAE customers.
Participants will share their expectations, preferences, and concerns about the evolving energy landscape, while offering feedback on the ODEON technologies currently being piloted across Europe. Discussions will center on energy sharing, digital platforms, and local empowerment in the energy market.
Shaping the future with industry leaders
The second session, scheduled for June 5 in central Amiens, shifts the conversation to the energy value chain. Policymakers, DSOs (Distribution System Operators), and regulators from the Amiens region and Paris will gather to examine how digital tools can better serve the business and regulatory needs of the sector.
This session will also focus on identifying barriers to innovation and crafting potential policy responses, drawing from ODEON’s experiences in other European pilot sites.
Language & Participation
The June 2 session will be conducted in French, with English interpretation available for international guests. The June 5 session will be bilingual, with interpretation provided in both French and English. Breakout groups will be facilitated by French-speaking moderators and rapporteurs.
Participants will include local energy producers, regulatory officials, policy advisers, and grid operators, each contributing their expertise to a shared vision for the future of energy.
This workshop is internal in nature, and the participants in both sessions have been selected by the project and the organisers. After the event, the highlights, conclusions, and lessons learned will be made public through ODEON’s communication channels.
ODEON Pilot Brings Smart Energy to Rural France
In Hangest-en-Santerre (Hauts-de-France), the ODEON project is launching a major energy demonstration involving local DSO SICAE and over 30,000 prosumers. The initiative will test advanced digital tools, including a Cloud-Edge Intelligence Platform and AI-based energy services tailored for DSOs, aggregators, and consumers.
The pilot aims to boost grid efficiency and accelerate decarbonization through smart home automation, bi-directional EV charging, and predictive analytics. It will also support peer-to-peer energy trading, enhance self-consumption, and guide residents toward greater investment in green technologies.
By combining data-driven strategies with community engagement, ODEON seeks to model a future-ready, sustainable energy ecosystem.
