ODEON Open Call: Boosting Innovation in Digital Energy

The ODEON Open Call is now open, inviting organisations—particularly SMEs and startups—to shape the future of Europe’s energy system through innovative digital solutions. Selected projects will receive up to €60,000 in funding to develop data- and AI-driven energy services on top of the ODEON platform, supported by advanced technological tools and a tailored mentoring programme.

The call runs from 8 April to 9 July 2026 (17:00 Brussels time) and will support up to 20 third-party projects. These projects will contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions leveraging federated data sharing, artificial intelligence, and cloud-edge technologies, helping to accelerate the green and digital energy transition in Europe. Full details are available through the ODEON Open Call page.

At its core, the Open Call aims to foster the creation of innovative digital energy services built on the ODEON Cloud-Edge Data & Intelligence Service Platform. Applicants are expected to design, develop, and validate solutions that make effective use of federated energy data, integrate AI-based analytics, and operate seamlessly across cloud-edge environments.

The services developed should respond to the needs of key stakeholders across the energy value chain, including network operators, Local Energy Communities (LECs), aggregators, and consumers and prosumers. To ensure focus and impact, applicants are required to address one of thirteen predefined challenges, covering areas such as Edge-AI deployment, load forecasting and flexibility profiling, smart charging (V2G/G2V), demand response and aggregation, and cross-dataspace interoperability.

Selected projects will take part in a 10-month support programme, designed to guide them from concept to validation. This includes an initial phase focused on refining the project design and mentoring plan, followed by the development and implementation of the service using the ODEON framework, and concluding with validation activities involving real users and stakeholders to demonstrate impact and scalability.

By supporting these initiatives, the ODEON project contributes to building a more flexible, resilient, and data-driven energy system in Europe.

Organisations interested in applying can submit their proposals through the official application platform.

To support applicants throughout the process, a series of informational webinars will be organised in the coming months, providing further insights into the Open Call and application process.
